Mobikwik app removed from Google Play store due to Aarogya Setu!

The MobiKwik app has been removed from the Google Play Store due to a violation of the Google Play Store ad policy. According to Mobikwik co-founder and CEO Bipin Preet Singh, this was done because the app has a link to the Arogya Setu app. Singh said in an interview that Mobikwik had received a warning from Google a week ago to promote Aarogya Setu, but when contacted by Mobikwik, he said it was a mistake. However, even after this, the app has now been removed from the Google Play Store.
Bipin Preet Singh told Gadgets 360 in an email, (translated) "The app was removed because we had a link to the Arogya Setu app." He gave us a warning a week ago and we explained that we had been asked to do so. Then today they first removed this app. It happened around 3 pm (IST) and then we contacted their team and resubmitted the app after removing the link to Arogya Setu, after which now Google has made the app live. "

Singh tweeted that MobiKwik and other fintech firms were asked by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to include a link to the Aarogya Setu app, making more and more people aware to download this contact tracing app. Remind that Arogya Setu has been downloaded more than 10 million times so far. Other apps such as Paytm's Android and iOS app versions include links to the Arogya Setu.

Google has policies against apps that contain deceptive or disruptive advertisements and are not explicitly labeled. However, if this is the reason why the MobiKwik app has been removed from Google Play, then we have to ask why other apps that promote Arogya Setu are being allowed on the store.
