ICC Board Meeting / Decision on postponement of T20 World Cup to be held in Australia this year, 3 options may be discussed; The path of IPL will be clear

The board tele-conferencing meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will take place today. A decision can be taken whether to postpone this year's T20 World Cup due to Corona. The tournament is to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November.

If the World Cup ends then there is every possibility of Indian Premier League (IPL) in this empty window of October-November. The IPL was to be held from March 29, which was postponed indefinitely due to Corona.

Australia wants World Cup next year

According to sources, Cricket Australia (CA) wants to host the World Cup next year. For this he also wrote a letter to the ICC. However, BCCI will have to persuade for this, as the 2021 T20 World Cup is to be held in India.

Once in 2018, T20 World Cup in Australia is postponed

The T20 World Cup, which began in 2007, is held every 2 years. But it was made frequent in 2009 and 2010 due to a clash of other tournaments. While the 2018 T20 World Cup in Australia was postponed to 2020 due to the 2017 Champions Trophy. However, T20 World Cup is to be held in India in 2021. The ICC decides all these schedules according to its Future Tour Program (FTP).

These three options can be discussed in the meeting.

If sources are to be believed, several options can be discussed for holding the World Cup in the ICC meeting. The head of the ICC's event committee, Chris Tetley, said that the best of these options is that the tournament be held in 2022.

.The first option is to have the World Cup between January and March in 2021, but then IPL will also be held in March-April. Also, England is to visit India in January-March. Where important and big series of 5 Tests will be played. In such a situation, it will be very difficult to have a World Cup.

.The T20 World Cup is to be held in India in October next year. In such a situation, the second option is to host Australia for the 2021 tournament. While India can get the World Cup in 2022. However, it will be difficult to convince the BCCI on this decision.
.The third option is that Australia can hold the World Cup in 2022. Many players and cricket boards will also be ready for this. Provided there are no ICC events during that time.

ICC refuses to postpone World Cup

The ICC spokesman said, "The ICC has not taken any decision yet on postponing the T20 World Cup." All preparations are going on in Australia according to the schedule regarding the tournament. This topic will be an agenda at the ICC Board meeting and a firm decision will be taken on it. ”

It is very difficult to make 15 teams tournament between Corona: Australia

Recently Cricket Australia (CA) chief Kevin Roberts said that it would be very difficult to bring 15 teams between Corona to Australia and hold the tournament. He said, "Nothing can be said clear about it right now." But things are slowly improving. You do not know what may be possible in the future and what is not. The ICC has to decide completely about the tournament. "

IPL schedule can now be 37 days

This time the IPL was to be 44 days instead of 50 days. All 8 teams have to play 14–14 matches in 9 cities. Apart from these, there were 2 semi-finals, 1 knockout and a final in Wankhede on 24 May, but the BCCI can now shorten the format to 37 days as in 2009. The IPL was played in South Africa due to the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. It was over within five weeks and two days.

October-November the right window for IPL

India's busy schedule has also been a major hurdle for the IPL. This year, only the October-November window is the best for the IPL in terms of schedule. Because during this time there is no series other than T20 World Cup. India have to play 3 T20s in Australia before the tournament in October. After the World Cup, there is a 4 Test and 3 ODI series in Australia in November-December.
